I am in the fortunate position to have full bookings for all services at the moment. This means I am currently unable to take on any new clients. I apologise to anyone I have been unable to reply to. I will update if this changes. Best wishes, Liz

Tailblazers Edinburgh has had a garden revamp. This benefits all daycare and boarding dogs and means much less mopping of mud for me! However, the main aim has been to provide a sensory garden designed specifically for dogs. All planting is non-toxic and features herbs and other plants that have health benefits for dogs. Canines are known to select scents and ingest certain plants for self-medication. An anxious dog may choose to smell lavender. Eating peppermint is good for their digestion. Further enrichment includes a sandpit for digging and a water feature for access to fresh water. Oh yes...and Scout wants a tunnel. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Group Walks
Tailblazers Edinburgh group walks last 1 hour not including pick up and drop off. The maximum number of dogs in the group is 5. Please keep vaccinations, worming and tick and flea treatment up to date.
Day care
Tailblazers Edinburgh is licensed for Dog Day Care by The City of Edinburgh Council. It is a licensing requirement that your dog’s vaccinations be fully up to date at the time of boarding. Kennel cough vaccine is also required. All dogs need to be regularly wormed and treated with tick and flea prevention.
Standard day care hours are between 8.30am – 5.30pm on any day of the week. Drop-off or collection outwith these hours incurs a £5 surcharge.
Finalising an initial booking is dependent on a successful Meet and Greet familiarisation session at the Tailblazers Edinburgh premises. Your dog can meet our own dogs and have a sniff around. You will have a chance to ask any questions. Tailblazers Edinburgh reserves the right to refuse a booking if there are any concerns about a dog’s behaviour.
Day care includes a morning and afternoon 1 x hour group walk, use of the doggy sensory garden, sandpit and other enrichment such as Kongs, chews and puzzle toys. There is always fresh water. Treats and poo bags are provided. Despite a range of dog beds, most canine visitors seem to prefer the sofa or a sneaky nap on one of our beds!
Home Boarding
Tailblazers Edinburgh is licensed for Dog Home Boarding by The City of Edinburgh Council. It is a licensing requirement that your dog’s vaccinations, including Kennel Cough, be fully up to date at the time of boarding. All dogs need to be regularly wormed and treated with tick and flea prevention. I am required to take a copy of your dog’s most recent vaccination details for my records.
Boarding includes, at least, 1 morning and 1 afternoon hour group walk, use of the doggy sensory garden, sandpit and other enrichment such as Kongs, chews and puzzle toys. Fresh water is always available. Poo bags are provided.
What to bring:
· Your dog’s bed (preferably of a kind that can be washed in a washing machine or with a removable, washable cover)
· Enough of your dog’s usual food to last for the entire booking plus a day or 2 extra in case of unexpected delays. You can bring your dog’s bowl or I can provide one. Storage space is limited. For bookings of over 2 weeks, it is preferable for me to buy more of your dog’s usual food if supplies run low. I will then provide proof of purchase and add the cost of the food to the final bill.
· Your dog’s usual equipment such as harness, muzzle, lead (NOT an extending lead or slip lead) dog coat etc.
· Medicine - if applicable. Any medication needs to be in its original packaging as provided by your vet. There must be clear, written instructions on dose and timing for the administration of the medicine. Remember to state if any medicine needs to be kept in the fridge.
If a dog is taken ill while home boarding, the dog will be quarantined and cared for in a separate room. The dog’s owner/s will be contacted immediately. If there is no response, the emergency contact will be notified. If neither is contactable, the dog’s own vet will be contacted. If it is out of hours, the emergency vet will be contacted. Should the dog be considered potentially infectious by the vet, then the owner/s, or, failing that, the emergency contact person will be required to collect the dog within 6 hours. Therefore, it is vital that the emergency contact person be someone able to take the dog in those circumstances.
Extreme weather conditions
For the safety and comfort of all dogs, Tailblazers Edinburgh reserves the right to shorten walks in the event of extreme weather such as very high or very low temperatures, gale-force winds or thunder and lightning.
